Recycling Uniform Sarees the Newage Way
Recycling Uniform Sarees the Newage Way: Ever wondered where do all those utensils sellers of our childhood disappear who used to give steel utensils in exchange for old clothes, sarees, etc. Saree is the largest wearing apparel across India and there must be some system going on in the background to recycle these sarees. One fine morning a gentleman from Maharashtra gave us a surprise visit, he wanted his farm to wear the Uniform Sarees, we asked, “do you mean your farm employee wants to wear Uniform Sarees“, he said no.
Prashant Holkar, a farmer from Lasalgaon village, Nashik has come up with a unique solution to save his grapes farm from the intense heat of the sun. Holkar has covered his 3.5-acre farm with more than 5000 colorful sarees. Holker bought the sarees from the Pimplegaon market at the rate of Rs 25 per piece and he had to spend Rs 1.25 lakhs to save the yearly yield.
This is an excellent example of how one can use old and discarded things from our daily life and recycle it and re-use it in a creative way to solve an existing problem, Holkar’s approach has shown a new path to many farmers around his region.
